Morning meeting for briefing and for to be known. After, we are heading outside Longyearbyen and into the territory to the unique arctic fox, where we also will visit the bird cliffs and explore wildlife. We will bring with us a field lunch and returning to the port, in good time before leaving for Isfjord Radio.
Boat trip start 15:00
After a 2 hour’s boat trips from Longyearbyen, “The Autumn Light photo expeditions” starts. We are now in the beginning of September, when summer starts to dissipate and soft lighting returns to the island. We have fantastic areas of autumn colors and fantastic sunsets in the west. It’s early September, but still Mother nature can surprise us with some fresh snow, during the night. In this landscape we will focus on birdlife(what’s left of it), seascape, and landscape photography in general.
At Isfjord Radio we will spend the time outside, by hiking around the area. We will walk by beautiful lakes, jagged mountains and wide-open ocean. We will stop by big whale bones, trappers hut and if the condition is good, we can reach av beach where potentially is a walrus colony. But we don’t operate with a fixed itinerary on any of our photo expeditions. It’s a full-on photography tour/workshop, so the activities are planned around sunrise, sunset and night photography excursions (depends on season). The whole area is packed with locations and wildlife so the weather and light conditions will decide where we will go.
Using the time after breakfast with some packing and photography around the nearest area around Isfjord Radio, before returning to Longyearbyen with the boat around 17:00pm. Back in Longyearbyen 19:00pm.
