Wildlife and conditions

In late February and March the mountain hare and the ptarmigans, will be totally white.  That will gives us some great contrast to a colorful winter sunlight, often with snow on the surrounding mountains.

Mountain hare and ptarmigans is most common when we have this tour, both in February and March. But sea eagles are common to see and if luck som falcons. Seabirds as, eiders, whooper svans, long-tailed duck and some waders.

ATTENTION : The weather can be a challenge and risk. We can be ending up with a stormy weather, without and strength cold weather, that forces us to stay inside.

Where we are staying

Weather and light conditions:

The program is dependent on the weather conditions, which is very unpredictable on an island at 71 degrees north. On winter tours like this, the weather conditions can be rough and unpredictable. The temperature can be still be between plus 5 Celsius and down to minus 15 Celsius and we can have changeable weather, from sunny,  and plus degrees, and the next moment cold air is coming, wind increases and minus degrees and snow is coming. But on god days, when the sky brightens for a while in the middle of the day, we get a magical mix of dusk and dawn. It’s hard to beat the sight of a mountain hare or a ptarmigans in front of pink polar skies, or autumn colors, or blue winter colors surrounded by snow-capped mountains.

ATTENTION: The weather can be so harsh that it can force us to stay inside, for a short period of time and up to several days. We cannot therefore not quarantine good conditions.

SUN CONDITION

Sunrise at our February and March tour : 07:40am / 07:05 am
Sunset at our February March tour : 03:57pm / 04:10pm

“Mountain hare, northern light and Ptarmigans – This tour is just like a Kinder egg – you are getting 3 for one!”

For both tours, it’s perfect conditions for beautiful landscape photography and of course Aurora Photography.
