Explore Svalbard’s Wildlife Around Longyearbyen
Join us for an exciting introduction to the wildlife and natural landscapes surrounding Longyearbyen.
We’ll pick you up and head out of town, making several stops along the way depending on what we discover — every trip is unique!
The tour includes a easy walk on mostly flat terrain. Some areas can be wet or uneven, especially when we get the chance to get closer to animals or birds, so sturdy footwear is recommended.
What we see varies from day to day, as both weather and light conditions influence animal activity. Our experienced guides will do their best to help you spot the local wildlife.
Along the way, we often encounter Svalbard reindeer, the Arctic fox (whose coat is darker during this season), and a wide variety of birds. We’ll also look for walruses, seals, and whales, which sometimes pass close to the coastline while feeding.
During the summer, the tundra comes alive with unique Arctic flowers and plants, creating a colorful contrast to the dramatic landscape.
Throughout the tour, you’ll enjoy beautiful views of fjords, valleys, and distant glaciers, while learning about Svalbard’s wildlife, nature, and environment from our knowledgeable local guides.
